Have you noticed exciting changes happening in the world of corporate business headshots and portraits?
I am talking about the shift from very traditional headshots (cropped head and shoulders portrait, formally posed photographed in a studio settings with black or white backdrop) towards lifestyle headshots and brand portraits.
As a Brighton based professional female portrait photographer I love this shift, it feels very liberating. Let me tell you why!
Is the traditional headshots dead?
No more boring business headshots: all dressed up, stand up straight and smile!
It’s the human element: we want to see the people behind the brand working to deliver on the brand promise we are all drawn to.
We want to see beautiful relaxed yet expressive photos of you and your team smiling into the camera, with direct contact to build connection and engagement.
As personal brand photographer, my favourite headshots and brand portraits are looking away from the camera as they are much more natural and candid.
No wonder small, medium and large businesses are celebrating the individuality of the team members with expressive and memorable headshots and brand portraits that stand out from the crowd.
Expressive corporate headshots should:
reflects the individuality of each employee
communicate the core values, vision and brand message of the business
build connection and engagement
incorporate element of expression, movement, dynamic
Let me introduce you to Huxley, Brighton web design and development agency
Recently, I have been approached by Huxley, a small web design and development agency based between Brighton and Worthing, Sussex, to take some professional corporate headshots of the 10 team members for use across social media (including LinkedIn and a re-branded website).
Because Huxley make websites that are easy to use, accessible, and tested by real people- I knew the importance of capturing really authentic headshots.
Not only that, Huxley is made up of web professionals with a multidimensional creative background: musicians, artists, designers, and writers - hence I made sure to capture unique, expressive and creative headshots and portraits of each team member.
Because we are all unique human beings.
Additionally the managing director is starting the journey of building a professional personal brand on LinkedIn so we made sure to take some relaxed brand portraits for his profile.
And that’s what we did.
We swapped the traditional white and back studio setting for their co-working office, which was an old church hall - a characterful space!
