I'm still beaming from the beginners Large Abstract Painting workshop at Brighton Lawrence Art Studio (only 1 hour train journey from London) I held earlier this month. It’s an intuitive, spontaneous way of painting, layering acrylic colour paint on top of colours to produce vibrant pops of unique abstract artwork on large canvas.
I absolutely loved taking everyone through process of exploring ourselves via abstract painting.
The best part about the abstract painting is that there are no rules, you can’t make mistakes. You don’t need to be able to draw or paint to express yourself. I’ve posted some photos from the event at the bottom to inspire your creative journey.
I was blown away by what we created that day in professional art studio and I’m sure you will be too.
This isn’t typical painting class for adults in Brighton!
At this abstract painting workshop we gave ourselves permission to express ourselves, be free, spontaneous, brave and messy.
We let our breath, intuition, inner wisdom guide the brush movement.
We got lost in the creative flow, found ourselves again, got lost again and on it went.
Words can’t describe this feeling, it has to be felt and experienced.
Art can teach us to be more present and more self-aware, to question our thoughts and limiting beliefs. And that’s what happened on the day, we let go of perfectionism, deepened the connection with our intuition and created bold expressive abstract paintings together.
It's a painting wonderland full of possibilities!
It’s a beautiful journey to be on.
I believe art has no limits!
I personally find joy in pushing boundaries by experimenting with texture, colours and shapes rather creating traditional realistic paintings.
That’s why we use everyday tools to paint large abstracts with: window squeegee, bubble wrap, fork, credit card, pastry brush, toothbrush, scraper, feather, chopstick, ANYTHING to get our imagination going while we’re painting.
For my next painting abstract workshop I am bringing more spray paint and few new tools: silicone cooking & baking tools (as I can’t bake, let make use of them in different way lol).
Suddenly the concept of "painting" that we once knew in our earlier years had expanded so much.
Are you ready to reconnect with the world of creativity where anything is possible?
