You scroll, you scroll, and you stop. Why?
Because something evokes emotions within you!
You have roughly 3 seconds to get your potential client to stop and read or watch your website or social media content.
Based on years experience as Brighton-based professional female photographer I know that sharing powerful scroll-stopping brand portrait and business headshot images of you (full of expression, emotions, authentic with explosion of colours) will do that!
I’ve helped hundreds of women in business to level up and scale their business. Your professional brand portraits and headshots MUST be powerful and eye catching to stop the scroll in 3 seconds.
Yes, one... two... three... that’s all you have.
Meet Judy - visibility coach, marketing strategist, retreat organiser and feminist from Brighton, Sussex UK.
Judy’s professional personal brand portrait photography was designed to fully reflect her personality, style of coaching, and new brand visuals.
Our goal on the day of the photoshoot (in sunny Brighton) was to capture: her energy, passion, honesty, trust, playfulness, approachability and inspiring personality.
We purposely decided to avoid the typical brand photography shots, such as smiling over a cup of coffee or working on a laptop in the coffee shop (there’s nothing wrong with those images but we decided it wasn’t right for her).
As well, we said “no” to traditional boring business headshots (read more: beyond the traditional headshots).
As a result, we captured a mixture of more natural portraits of Jude laughing, looking at the camera as well as looking away from the camera (candid portraits) and more dynamic portraits and close ups.
Location of the portrait photoshoot in Brighton
Brighton is such a vibrant town with colourful buildings and streets with so many photoshoot locations to choose from (even if you’re camera shy - you might want to read my recent blog post: Brighton city vibes portrait photo session even if you are camera shy).
We decided to have the half of the photoshoot on Brighton pier to capture the bright, dynamic and fun aspect of Jude’s personality.
The second part of her photoshoot happened on the local Brighton beach demonstrating a more calm and relaxed mood for business headshots and lifestyle brand portraits.
The importance of having a variety of different looks and scenes during the brand portrait photoshoot
As a Brighton based professional portrait photographer I always aim to capture multiple looks, scenes and stories in different locations so the final images don’t look like they were done in one day.
The intention is always to create a bank of high quality brand portrait images you can use across all social media platforms for many months (even up to a year)! For that reason a variety of outfits is a must (check out: what to wear on your portrait brand photoshoot, top tips by female photographer) as well as location.
A selection of different locations for the photoshoot added variety to the images so they can be used across her website and social media to demonstrate the various packages and products Jude offers.
Prop suggestions during brand portrait photoshoot
Sometimes less is more! That’s my approach as a brand photographer when it comes to props yet I love how my clients incorporate brand colours by carefully selecting props: phone cover, laptop, drink cup, branded notebook, tote bag, pen.
These help to build a cohesive look and feel.
Love the attention to detail, Jody has even painted her nails in relevant brand colour shade!
Keep in mind, the brand colours during the portrait photoshoot
Judy went through a 360 degree rebranding of her business. Receiving professional brand guidance from her brand designer in advance of the photo session really helps to make the all visual aspects work together. This includes brand colours.
Colour plays a big role in your branding photoshoot. Brand colours can be reflected on the picture in many ways:
outfit
props
decor/backdrop
accessories
