This expressive abstract painting, ‘Emotional Scratches,’ is inspired by the array of challenges we face in our lives. When things don’t go according to plan we face an internal fight. It can feel like this inner fight creates “scratches” on our mind and nervous system. These inner scratches effect our emotions, moods, thoughts and behaviour. When inner turmoil is rife we feel like all is lost. We feel helpless, damaged and sometimes without hope.

The scribbles, scratches and multiple layers of sharp lines are an illustration of this idea. They are reminiscent of physical scratches, cuts, burns, bumps, bruises and scars. The mixture of multiple mediums were used to create juicy texture and depth, including soft and vibrant tones of orange acrylic paint.

Although the subject is pain, the visual outcome is pleasing to the eye, therefore juxtaposing two seemingly opposing ideas.

This is a unique, one of a kind acrylic abstract, using mixed media techniques on a large canvas, ready to bright up one of your rooms.
