What if it rains during outdoor portrait photoshoot? Sussex Brighton Photographer

It all starts with a vision of a the perfect authentic-yet-magnetic portrait and headshot photo session with me, a Sussex, Brighton and Hove based female photographer.

We design the whole photoshoot experience together, so you know what to expect when you gently step into visibility with me.

This includes:

  1. Choosing the the most breathtaking location for your outdoor photoshoot (here are my top 5 Sussex green locations for photoshoot and my top 3 Sussex best beach locations for your portrait brand photo session)

  2. Deciding what to wear including accessories

  3. Incorporating props in order to inject even more of your personality (here are my 7 best prop ideas for your brand photo session)

  4. Pick the photoshoot day: morning or afternoon

What happens if it’s forecast to rain on the day of our outdoor photoshoot?

I am all about embracing all weather conditions during the outdoor photoshoot in Sussex, Brighton and Hove locations. Whether it’s in Brighton & Hove centre, beach, woodland or open field.

Together we play with the sun and shadows, we embrace the wind rather than fighting with it.

However, when it comes to rain…

I will have to prioritise my equipment and your comfort above the photoshoot.

  • Yes, we can an use umbrella.

  • Yes, we can go deeper in the forest.

  • Yes, we can try to hide from the rain, use shelter or a big tree.

  • Yes, we can start the portrait photoshoot indoor (in my Brighton & Hove photo studio or your home) and once the rain clears we can go outside.

  • Yes, if we both have flexibility in our calendar we can try to coordinate the timing of the photoshoot with the weather forecast by starting the session earlier in the day or later.

  • Or simply… reschedule for another day!

My approach as a Sussex Brighton based professional outdoor portrait photographer

Living around Sussex, Brighton and Hove for nearly 16 years, I can honestly say that it’s impossible to predict weather condition on the day.

The weather forecast can change frequently over the course of a week or even a day!

For that reason:

  1. I strongly invite you to pick 2-3 days for our outdoor portrait photo session with me. We both will reserve those days in our calendar.

  2. We will monitor the weather forecast closer to the dates.

  3. A couple of days before the photoshoot, we will together agree on a day which is clear from the rain and you feel energise to step in front of my camera.

We really don’t need a sunny day for the photoshoot

As a professional portrait photographer I follow the the light, natural lightyet strong sun during the outdoor photoshoot might be overpowering for your eyes and face.

  • By using softer light during the cloudy day, it will help make your face naturally radiate and make shadows around your eyes and neck invisible, much softer. Your eyes much bigger.

  • The best light for the outdoor portrait photo session is two hours before the sunset and after the sunrise.

  • The best light is before or after the storm!
