It’s OK to feel awkward in front of the camera
It OK to experience a range of emotions during the photos session: resistance, joy, awkwardness, silliness, playfulness, embarrassment, etc.
It’s OK to worry about the visibility process:“do I look ok?”; “my hair looks good”?
It’s OK to not like what you see at first
All above and more it’s part of the visibility process.
Yet, as I go deeper to understand the visibility blockages withn myself and others, I ask this question: why do we see beauty in others but not in ourselves?
I struggled to see beauty in myself until…
I started using portrait photography to heal this part of myself. And now I help my clients do the same thing.
Through portrait photos & headshots I hold up a mirror to reflect back the hidden beauty they normally miss.
I’m not just taking pictures of their hair, skin and eyes . . .
I’m capturing their strength, vulnerability, resilience, courage, and other hidden attributes.
This is my gentle way of revealing new insights to them.
