Brighton city vibes portrait photo session even if you are camera shy with female photographer
Magdalena Smolarska
You might think having a professional lifestyle portrait photoshoot in a busy town like Brighton and Hove would be difficult and embarrassing but . . . it doesn’t have to be that way.
We will move a lot from one spot to another on the day of your branding portrait (or business headshot) photo session and there will be no time to notice whether someone is watching us.
Trust me, as a Brighton based female personal branding portrait photographer with years of experience I know many ways to avoid stress if you’re camera shy.
This is what I do on the day of your photoshoot:
1. Timing of the photo session
If you’re a little bit introverted, like me, the best time to have portrait photoshoot in your local cafe or on the Brighton streets is during off-peak times and week days.
Early morning works the best: most cafes open around 7-8am and they are fairly empty and quiet early morning, alternatively, a few minutes before closing they are also less crowded.
you might want to avoid the rush hour and lunch time when taking pictures on the street, not only because it’s crowded but, also because the light might be too strong around noon time;
try avoid weekends (especially bank holidays) if possible, Brighton is a popular destination for foreign tourists and visitors from central London.
2. Location, location, location
I love planing the location of the portrait photoshoot in advance.
Planning it’s the key to a stress-free photoshoot experience so and I’ll help you to pick the perfect backdrops before the shoot day.
Brighton and Hove has an endless number of cute, trendy and cosy local independent cafe’s. And they’re popping up little mushrooms! Perfect for a quirky location.
And let’s not forget the vibrant, colourful cute buildings and streets art too, so much to choose from on the day of the photoshoot.
Which quirky corners, art, graffiti and local cafes of Brighton and Hove do you wish to visit?
Which local independent cafe or restaurant is your favourite?
Knowing this in advance is better than wondering around and choosing on the day. It’ll save time and will make us less tired.
3. Be in the flow and trust the process
We will move a lot from one location to another on the day and honestly there will be no time to notice whether someone is watching us.
As an introvert personality myself, I’ll make sure you’re fully engaged and present in the moment. Plus, I will hold a safe space for you to express yourself.
4. Sneak peak straight from my camera
We tend to worry a lot on the day of photoshoot when it comes to final images: “do I look good” or “do I smile too much or not enough?”. To keep your mind calmer and make you feel comfortable and more empowered on the day of your personal branding photoshoot, I’ll show you what the pictures are like as we go along.
Those frequent picture sneak peaks (straight from my camera) are so powerful when it comes to your online visibility journey. But if you wish not to see images, I will respect it too.
5. We will take breaks in between shoots!
Are you a hot chocolate girl (like me) or coffee lover? I am a chocoholic and always say “yes” to cake.
Hence, I do not see a reason not to incorporate this on the day of your professional photoshoot in Brighton.
We will take few breaks before, during or after the photoshoot to re-group, to pause, to rest, to check how you feel and to change outfits if you wish.
This simple yet powerful approach to outdoor portraits and headshot photoshoots works so well.
Hope you enjoyed seeing what myself and Marie created together. She’s a confidence & energy coach who came from London to Brighton via train to have a personal brand portrait photoshoot with me.
We created a vast array of expressive, vibrant, traditional (but certainly not boring), headshots for her website.
