Beyond the traditional headshot. Brighton Portrait Photographer with business coach for creatives.

“I don’t want anything too posed, I just want to be me!”

That’s what Andrea said when I arrived at her house for her personal brand portrait photoshoot in Hurstpierpoint Sussex, a 10 minute car drive from Brighton and Hove.

I took a deep breath and smiled, as Brighton based professional portrait photographer, this was music to my ears!

As an artist, I tend to attract creative business owners who have a clear and unique vision of how they want to take the business to the next level and what kind of headshots and portrait photography they are looking for.

This includes a very define style, mood and energy of portraits and location of the photoshoot. And very define list of what kind of brand pictures they don’t like (for example the traditional picture of business coach holding coffee mug or working on laptop).

This is useful for me as I support them during their process: from launching or rebranding a website.

Andrea (pictured) is a development coach for creative people based in the Sussex area. She exemplified the ideals I’ve mentioned above. It was my pleasure to hop into the car (although I am based in sunny Brighton, my photography service is available in Sussex and beyond) and meet her in her house.

We went for documentary-style, editorial, candid, home business-looking headshots that tell a story. The photoshoot took place in her house rather in her Brighton office. Her house perfectly reflects who she is as a person. Opening the door to her creative space will help her attract and connect with the right audience, creative entrepreneurs and business owners (8 reasons why you should do an in-home personal branding photo session).

The interior design, art and dog all played an important role in composition, as you can see them on every single brand images we co-create together.

The bold and colourful interior design underlines the brand colours (yellow, orange, red, white) which we incorporated in Andrea’s outfit choices on the day of shooting. Here you can find few tips on what to wear on your portrait brand photoshoot.

We intentionally kept the props to a minimum and let the interior design and Andrea personality shine.

Rather than taking lots of traditional business headshots and portraits of Andrea, I have decided to create a composition with an underlining story of who she is as person, business development coach. We also included her interests in the shoot.

As a professional photographer I can easily capture it by zooming out rather than zooming in. All with the intention to create a deeper connection with the audience who will land on her brand new website.
